great HD radio tuner2010-03-125 / 5
I hooked this up to my Onkyo reciever (incredibly old but works like new) and got my local HD stations easily. I used the antenna that came with it, and did not have to buy any other equipment to great great HD radio.
HD Radio is great2010-03-115 / 5
Enjoy a number of commercial free stations with quatity sound. HD radio is great.
The wireless remote doesn't have much range, but no other faults.

At first, I liked it! HD radio -- cool!
Then, I noted it runs quite hot.
But, the "deal breaker" was this: When I turned it off for the night (via the master control outlet on the back of my amp) it LOST ALL CHANNEL PRE-SETS and the time! So, each time I want to use it I have to reset the tiem and channels? Not a chance! Let's call it a "design defect." No battery back-up, no non-volatile ROM to store this information.
I'll be on the way back to later today.
Bad job, Sony!

Not as good as I had hoped2010-03-071 / 5
This tuner was highly rated by CNET and others, but I found it lacking in many ways. This is my first experience trying to get HD service. It was very disappointing to learn that even though I have always gotten decent clean reception of my classical public radio stations, that did not mean I could receive their HD channels. The instructions were exasperatingly minimal, so I did not know if I was doing something wrong. There is no way to directly input the frequency you want, and the HD scan only scans up. So if you miss your HD channel you have to use the regular FM scan to get below your desired station and then start the HD scan again. It is a terrible system. I plugged this tuner into an AC outlet on my main receiver, so that the whole system would go on together. Turns out that if you disconnect the AC from this tuner you lose the presets, and you have to start the annoying seach process all over again. So I have to leave it on all the time. Fortunately, it does not use much electricity. I always thought of Sony as having superior engineering. They sure missed the boat on this one, but there are very few FM HD tuners available.
