got these speakers out of curiosity and to try a/b comparisons with studio mixing and mastering. after 1st hooking up to an older cd player (when they were made with quality and were not cheap unlike modern cd players)to get a general listen they sounded great could hear all details and served their purpose. 2nd I hooked them up to reference amp and used them for a/b switching and could single out mixes better knowing what these speakers can produce in general plus they sounded great in the studio with higher quality audio. sooo stoked on getting these. good price too. will see how long they last though. it's sony. :)

These speakers work great. I have them matched up with an onkyo tx sr308 5.1 receiver. Paired with some decent speaker wire and set up properly through my receiver's settings they rock the house; especially with dts or dolby true hd signals.

I decided to order these speakers because of all the rave reviews I read about them. My Polk bookshelf speakers sound better than the Sonys. These Sonys are very boomy. The highs aren't bad but not as smooth as my Polks or Cambridge Soundworks bookshelf speakers. Why am I having to turn the volume up 10 points higher on these than other speakers I own. They are attractive and pretty well built but the connections on the rear are very loose when I try to insert a banana plug into them. Not totally but somewhat dissapointed in these speakers. The tweeters go out to 50,000Hz which gives the speakers a metallic bright sound where the highs seem to dominate and drown out any midrange.

These speakers sound great for the price. No problems at all, and a fair amount of bass with no sub.
